Default Twin disc probs

Hey guys, put a CM twin disc in my car and having shift problems now. Had a ACT 4puck w/no probs. At first, the car wouldn't go I to any gear at all running. So did some reading and ended up making a pedal stop for it. Put it up on jack stands, had a buddy turn on the wheel while it was in gear as I pushed te clutch down slowly to see where it was releasing and set it about a 1/4" lower. Te car went I to hear fine then. Even drove fine under normal conditions. Now when I'm in 2nd gear and rev it out to go into 3rd it's not going!!! I tried adjusting te pedal stop a lil lower to the floor and it seemed to help a lil. But then 2nite I went out and did a 2-3rd gear pull and the same thing, not wanting to go in 3rd again.....wtf is going on w/this thing?!! I'm getting aggravated here, I've upgraded the clutch and LSD to help the trans live a lil longer and hopefully help knock some time off the ET do to a slipping clutch and OEM LSD before. Just wanna get this issue fixed and fast, trying to get back on the dyno and turning the boost up. Anybody else have this issue w/theirs? Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Try bleeding the hydraulics really well. Sounds like it's not fully disengaging.

Master cylinder needs to be good and healthy for a twin as well. When I first switched to mine, the old mc couldn't handle it and ruined a good gearset

My stock master cylinder didn't live long with the twin. I upgraded to a Tilton master cylinder and braided clutch line. So far so good.

Wilwood 5/8" master cylinder with a Russell SS line is what I run and I have zero issues. I ordered mine from Ken's Custom Chassis. You will need a mounting plate which they provide with their kit.

I uograded to the Omni clutch master in my car. I had an oem master that was only a couple years old and it didn't work well with the twin. So far so good on the Omni.

I have a comp twin and new stock master and slave cylinders with good results after a lot of headaches. I left my car on the ground and adjusted the clutch with a tad more than needed travel down to allow the trans to go into first gear. shortly after the install the clutch started becoming unique every time it was engaged. every bolt in the clutch (diaphragm and pressure plate) (not flywheel) would loosen up. after several times I fixed the issue only to be "locked" out of gear after a few pulls. went through my trans internally to find no problems. switched to a better fluid and lots hits later all is well.

I bet it not going into gear in the first place was because you didn't adjust it right...

2nd.. Every twin disc i have had installed on a car did worse when it had a pedal stop.

So my suggestion, adjust the clutch like it is supposed to and ditch the pedal stop.

Had a Comp twin in there for 2 years now with no issues.

Can you shed more light on this adjustment (or are you referring to the clutch master rod adjustment ?).... Competition Clutch mentions a pedal stop as well.... Installing a CC Twin Disk soon in a non-Honda so just wondering.... Thanks

Pedal adjustment. Like how a pedal is supposed to have a little bit of play at the top before you actually feel it get hard. That kind of adjustment. So yes the clutch master rod.

CC/CM and all other clutch manufacturers need to save themselves and say put a pedal stop on them for the dumbasses out there who don't know how to properly adjust a clutch pedal.

I have seen pedal stops cause more damage to transmissions than shifting good.

Every car we have installed Twin discs and triple disc clutches on have never had clutch stops on them and they all shift great..

Mine was doing it before the pedal stop. U can over extend the pressure plate arms. I didn't just post this question up w/out doing a lil research and what not. This is the first time ive ever had this prob, all the other 3 clutch set ups in my car have all shifted just fine. A lot of manufactures will even tell u to put a pedal stop on the car w/the twin disc. I'll figure it out this coming week when I have more time and will be sure to post up what the "fix" to it was.

Yes you can over throw the pressure plate... If it's not adjusted right.

Correct.

If your twin disc engages at the top of the pedal, and have no pedal stop, you're going to have a bad time.

I use the floor as my pedal stop on every single twin I have ever installed, and haven't run into any issues with it. I do, on the other hand, give the pedal just a smidge more travel than what Tilton/CC talk about (they say 1/4" after engagement of travel), and have found shifting to be easier, and driving more predictable.

My two cents.
