89 CRX 1.5 PGM-FI burning rich

strong, rich exhaust. any way to adjust fuel mixture? or, what controls this mixture? thx.

Begin with a tuneup with new plugs and wires. Maybe even the distributor.

Out of spec ignition system will not light off the fuel mix completely.

Dirty fuel inj sticking open can also cause this

Exhaust smells sweet then you're burning coolant you have a blown head gasket

Easy check? Pull the plugs and look at the colour of the tips, if they're dark it's rich. You'll want a light brown colour.
