Default Full car maintenance Recommendations.

Hi Guys...
I'm looking to do a big maintenance on the 2007 honda pilot we own. 140k miles
What do you recommend?

here's my list:
water pump
pulleys
timing belt
serpentine belt
spark plugs

thanks!

timing belt/water pump is part of 105k service, so if it hasn't been done it's certainly overdue. spark plugs due at 90k, so same for that. is it AWD? check trans fluid, transfer case, and rear diff if so. don't forget about air filter/cabin filter.

To your list I would add a new radiator (trans/rad fittings rust out and mix fluids catastrophically), new O2 sensors, and most definitely a valve adjustment.

Spark plugs are part of the -4 (TB) service called out by the Maintenance Minder. I would also add a change of brake fluid (every 3 years) to the list provided by WBF.

And one more thing, change your power steering fluid too. Even though it's not on any maintenance callout, a PS fluid change has proven beneficial in multiple instances. Cheap and easy to do too.

Why do you say replace 02 sensor? if it's not coding, don't waste the money

Because as they age, they can adversely affect the catalytic converters. Or so I understand. They are a lot cheaper to replace than cats. Also, it's been reported that replacing the sensors around the mileage for the TB service has restored pep and mpg too.

Of course, YMMV.

Acura (I say Acura because I work for them, not Honda, but all the same) doesn't recommend replacing o2 sensors as part of any maintenance is all I can tell you. The sensors compare atmospheric oxygen level to oxygen level inside exhaust. Very rarely have I replaced o2 sensors, or cat converters. I have no proof that replacing it doesn't have an advantage, but I certainly have no proof that is does.

Understood.

Here's a thread that I found helpful about the issue of aging O2 sensors.

As usual, YMMV.

Drain and fill the transmission minimum, or flush it with a dozen quarts of ATF. Look for am external ATF filter to change. Some Hondas have them in the cooler line, and some just have the internal one that you can't get to without a total trans disassemble. Any Honda dealer will tell you that it does not have an external filter, but some do. I have changed them personally on a few Hondas of differing models.
