What Turbo?
Ok so i come to thee for guidance. I just recently turboed my crx si sohc and im using the te05-12b turbo from the 9000 saab i think 1991. I love the power increase and the quick spool but it dies out around 5700rpm which i expected. But now i got the itch for more. I have a T3/T4 57 trim .48/.60 turbo sitting in my room. Do you think that will be too big for my sohc stock motor or will it be fine. Any suggestions on turbos that will pull to redline with a good spool time? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Best bet is to try the forced induction forum.
My first guess would be a TD04-15g if you are staying within the safer limits (under 240hp) of a daily driver with stock internals.
A 16g can do 270~low 300s pretty well, but you get lag and also, that's a lot of power/abuse for stock internals to put up with.

220 is the max you can reliably run on stock internals on 93, the connecting rods simply can't handle any more than that.
a 16g would be perfect for you, it would make the power you want while still being responsive and it should hold boost almost if not all the way to your rev limit. Porting the compressor cover and the turbine housing inlet/outlet and wastegate flapper will go a long ways with making more top end power and having more solid boost control as well.
If you want something bigger then a Greddy 18g would be great as well, people have made over 300hp with them on single cams. They are a little hard to find though.
I'm assuming your 12b has a t25 inlet? AFAIK Saab always used traditional garrett style housings regardless of turbo type. I don't think your 12b would have the usual MHI square 4 bolt turbine flange. if it's a t25 then you have a wide selection of turbos that will work (like the Greddy 18G). any 16G you find will have the MHI/DSM 4 bolt turbine flange so you'd need an adapter plate.
If you can afford it something like a Garrett GT2860R would be great. Uber responsive and will still support 325ish hp. They can be found used in good shape fairly cheaply (350-450ish)

agree the 16G at 8-9psi is perfect for your engine
any mitsubishi turbo with 15T, 16G, 16T compressor would be perfect. max boost at about 3500 rpm (from 3000rpm you will have 70-80% boost).
if you cant find a used 4 bolt MHI turbo, a disco potato (GT2860) would be also ideal for your application

OP, look for a big 16g (a real one) that a dsm guy is selling, they tend to go cheap if in good shape and then all you need is to spend about 50-75usd for an adapter plate (again assuming your manifold is t25 flanged) and you'd need a modified downpipe given the different flange, adapter plate thickness, and different overall turbo size. you'll also probably have to modify your intercooler piping a bit on the hot side but that's easy.

The 15g would probably be the smallest turbo he can use for what he wants. the 15t and 16t have smaller turbine wheels and housings compared to the g turbos.
Depending on what kind of boost pressure he runs and what his rev limit is the 15g will more and likely start to taper off around the last 2000-3000rpm.
if he ports the turbine housing inlet, flapper hole, and the compressor housing outlet he can minimize pressure loss (there still will be some high rpm taper) and have steadier boost control not to mention making a few extra hp with the porting (no more than 10hp IMO)

The saab turbo I have on now is a T3 flange. So I don't know if that makes a difference when trying to switch out the internals. I would love to get my hands on a 2860 but I don't think I should pay for one at this moment. (Wife would kill me)
