Default Cant find a rebuilt si steering rack

So ive replaced all the inner and outer tie rods, as well as the rack end bushing. I no longer have any play when shaking or tugging on the inner tie rods, but when i rapidly shake the steering wheel back and forth i still hear clunking sounds coming from the rack.

Any thoughts?

the rack did appear to be extremely dry when i inspected it, i feel it may be worn

If i get a replacement rack, should i go new or remanufactured?

http://www.carsteering.com/addtocart...80-70071.html#

also how do i know if im getting an si rack, every new rack claims they fit both, which we know the si is different than the hf/dx.

If anyone knows of who sells rebuilt or new si racks that would be great.

what is the difference between racks? also if the pump isnt running a clunk is normal when you do that, assuming this is power steering

I would check the steering column u joint on the inside of the car. These wear out and will cause a clunk that seems to be coming from the rack but is just noise transfer. Its right at were the column meets the rack and is very easy to change out.

I agree and the u joint itself can be worn.

i re-tightened the rack adjustment and the noise changed slightly but was still very noticeable. the Ujoint appears to be in good condition, it dosnt flex or make noise. if i put my ear to the floor can tell its coming from the opposite side.

Im just going to get a new rack at this point.

Does anyone have any recommendations?
