Default RWD MID ENGINE HATCH PROJECT

Setup: 95 eg hatch with f22a6 engine swap. complete stock engine with arp head studs.

Why? Because I love making almost all my torque at less than 4k revs.
-one cam= less rotational mass
-no replacement for displacement
-too much torque steer when i had the engine in the front.

So...I'm guessing the mid-engine and RWD part is coming later? Also, you realize the torque steer is caused by the drivetrain, not the engine placement, right?

Driving a civic in reverse doesn't technically make it mid engine and RWD

Torque steer is caused by one tire getting more traction than the other. Or power being sent more to one side. Yeah still trying to upload pix onto photobucket from cell then past the link onto this site.

Buy an nsx? Then we all should just drive the same car. We all have different setups. Well me anyways because i like to be different and explore the route less travel.

Yes driving in reverse doesnt make it mid engine but driving in reverse is like driving a mid engine. Floor the car is reverse and it just goes without much traction lost esp in a suoer short gear like reverse.. Thats kind of how a mid engine should feel

Yeah i heard of scums on ht.
Had my pix all in my other phone but scrern cracked so i guess we will jist fast foward to current time
Damn lots of info missed out on but better than nothing

Dont mind the ugly welding blanket. It was too flexible to work with and the smell from the adhesive spray made me rush it a bit but it will probably be covered with an aluminum sheet or so.

Spray glued cloth onto the firewall using #90 3m spray. Expensive but good. Guess its a firewall.

Spaghetti anyone? Had to lengthen about 10+ wires that went from underhood fuse both to the ecu.

Reusing my old and well abused 3" downpipe and adding a few different bends to it

A bit of mocking up and tacking stainless to mild steel. Exhaust gas is going to exit to the right side of bumper because putting it in the oem location wont clear

The finished product. Not the best welding but if it holds thats good enough for me.

Looks like the rear end of a lamborgini or porshe, so i like to think anyways.

Pretty cool man. Sick set up actually. How do you deal with weight ratios? Being so light in the front and all now, or is it not that bad?

Turtlegrip- gas tank up front and a bit of bracing to add weight. Other then that im going to raise my rear end up a bit.

Well see how much better this setup grabs traction. If its noticeably different ill convert my del slow too but instead use a 98 accord front clip since they have oem traction bars, absorb bumps smoother too and a crossmember . Make it a sleeper mid engine. Seems like the del sol was built to be mid engine like the honda beat or FR like the s2k

I noticed in one of your last pics, you had the battery sitting on the concrete slab floor....

I'm not sure if you are aware but that kills car batteries dead, like can't recharge dead.

Need to get it up on some wood blocks to prevent damage to the battery.

Fabricated some brackets to hold my shift linkage

Then had so make a custom linkage that reverses the push and pull motion to shift into gears. I think this was one of the most painful things about the mid engine swap and using a long geared f22 transmission instead of going f2d

Not to knock you but that's no longer true. Batteries way back in the day had either rubber or wood casing which if leaked could cause a conductive path to the concrete. Batteries now a days have much more insulation and are incased with material that doesn't allow that to happen, so it's a historical myth that at one time in history was true.

lmao

That shift linkage is impressive and looks like it took some engineering skills haha. Have you dyno'd the engine? Or have videos of you drifting? heh
