Default Is Trap Speed Relative to E.T.?

I'm trying to figure out if my buddy was on the bottle or not at the track a few weekends back. He ran a 13.97 @ 97 and I ran a 14.5 @ 96. Granted he was on radials and I was on terrible street tires. As you can probably already tell I'm very new to drag racing so keep the insults at a minimum please. Thanks

Better traction will result in a lower mph to an extent, but not much at that level

Looks ok to me. I went 14.0 @ 97 on slicks in my prelude with stock internals

Your mph are practically the same, so assuming the cars weight is about the same, that tells me they make approx the same power. He just out drove you.

(Or sandbagged at the last second, lol)

MPH is an indicator of HP . . . it tells you what ET is possible within reason.

Your worse ET is due to a slower 60ft.

A quick rundown on each of your setups will definitely help.

MPH is what the car can do, ET is what the driver can do.

Seems like his tranny and driving made the difference, not spray.
