Hi all I'm needing some help to decide on what modification to do to my Honda accord lx to get more hp out of the engine. I've seen lots of different threads on this subject so please anyone give me your knowledge. I'm looking to install a f22a6 cam also the ecu plus which intake n throttle body should I use with the least bit of modification also what is the real diff between the a6 intake n the a1 or should I consider using an h23a1 intake. See I'm confused lol.

Oh sorry it is a 1990 Honda accord lx.

 

For IM, some of the CB guys uses the H23A1 upper plenum and keep the bottom one. From what I read, it makes a difference.

 

Ok my next question is what is the difference between the h23a1 non vtec intake manifold n the h23a1vtec intake manifold?
I keep looking on threads n a lot of guys seem to say they install a h23a1 non vtec intake manifold on their accord but every time I look for this it keeps coming up as a vtec manifold is there a real difference between them if so please let me know?

 

H23A1 is the non VTEC H23 160HP unit.
Look in the FAQs on swap.

 

The US H23A1 is non VTEC. The H23A from Japan is VTEC and has a blue valve cover.

The difference between the Non VTEC H23A1 intake the the H23A VTEC is the port shape and layout as well as the lower manifold runners are slightly different lengths.

The H23A VTEC uses the same intake as the H22A VTEC.

Most Accord guys use two different halves of the intake, for the upper part they use the H23/H22 upper plenum and throttle body (these are the same between both engines). Then they use the lower half from the F22A6. Reason for doing this is so that you maintain proper intake port shape and the runner length suits the engine. While the H22/H23 upper is larger in volume and the throttle body is also larger. This helps promote better breathing for your engine.

If you plan on doing this you should also note that more air in = having to get more air out! So you may also want to look into a header and exhaust upgrade.

 

Thank you for the advice I have most of what I need but now I'm needing someone to help me on wiring up the iab intake control solenoid to my pt6 ecu I know there will be two wires but where do they go?

 

Hi now I'm stuck on a question if I wire up for the bypass control solenoid can I just use the existing wires that run the intake control solenoid since when I install the h23a1 intake.. the vacuum hose that goes to the intake control solenoid won't be used. Or will that create a problem?
