Default New to the Honda game

Hey trying to get into the honda game idk where to start besides the fact that I like the 90s ex coupes I've hear a lot about b series with stock sleeves and turbos not sure I just want something fast enough to have fun with but still reliable enough to go to work everyday for a decent price

Your question is extremely broad.

Considered just buying a stock "quick" honda and leaving it alone/doing simple bolt ons?

Buying something like a GSR would get you into the 13's with the right bolt ons/cams/tuning/gearing.

A 06-11 Si or RSX-S starts out in the high 14's and 13's are very easy.

Stock S2000s are easily 13 sec cars.

A B series swapped 92-00 hatchback is easily made into a 13 sec car.

All of the above can probably still get 30mpg + and will reliably get you to and from work with no headaches.

Or turbo a D series "on da low" and blow it up every few weeks or something.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

There is no such thing as the "honda game," unless you wanna be mad tyte jdm cool dawg. We cannot buy a car for you. Do research and come back with a tech question, not a broad what should I buy question. What chassis do you like? Do you want a turbo or n/a? Budget? There are 2 different 90s civic coupes, which one? Fast enough to have fun with is very broad, one man may be happy at 150 hp while another may want 800hp and nothing less. Fast, reliable, cheap: pick two, because you can't have all three.

ARE YOU AT ALL MNECHANICALLY INCLINED?
I started w/ my first Civic 94 Coupe 5Spd D16Z6 and learned and upgraded quite a bit just from advice, trial and error.
But there's no greater feeling than learning and doing it yourself

Yes I'm mechanically inclined do all my own work built my harley and currently building my 67 firebird. Which is why I am on this forum because I know absolutely nothing about Hondas. Basically all I wanted to know was what motor would be a decent build for a fair amount of money. I've heard of the k20s but I've also heard that it would cost a lot, that's why I was thinking a b series motor but idk which one or where to start with it

And from my understanding, a turbo setup would be the best bang for my buck as for the model I was thinking a 2000 civic coupe ex.

Goals? Overall outcome desired?

Demonstration of how everything is subjective:
-To reach mach 10 and go to outer space, a rocket motor is the best bang for your buck

So, in my signature is a link to the FAQ
there is tons of good information there, get reading.

Otherwise, don't call it a game, it just sounds ******* stupid and you sound twelve.

Now that you have a goal HP figure out methods to reach it by reading the4 FAQ, then determine the cost of each method and decide which one you will use.

You can turbo your D series and make that. Spend money on the right turbo and manifold. Spend money on something to tune with and the tuning itself.

Just remember to budget for all the supporting mods. Clutch, cooling system, etc.

Don't cheap out. The build idea itself is already fairly cheap. Buy good parts.

Why does the Honda game sound stupid as if game is not used in damn near every other walk of life. Got Milk, Got Game ,Beast Mode, Game Time.
Don't Know which motor is best for you but there are really good options in the Honda line and even the single cam D Series can get you to your goals w/ a lil help

Game. Indicates juvenility. Game implies lack of seriousness. Game implies a level of immaturity.

I literally clicked this thread because it had the word "game" in the title and saw you were the last to post in it and scrolled down disregarding all other posts to see what you had to say. Now I'm going back to read the rest.

Well here is your first lesson in the Honda "game": Your post is in a sub-forum for designated for specific tech questions and discussion. It is not a place we spoon feed kids. If you're serious, you need to read stuff. A lot of stuff. No one here will disagree with me.

Start with the FAQs for this section.

/Thread closed.

EDIT: And don't use the term "game" or I will e-slap you. That is, if you're an adult. This goes for everyone else too.
