Hey guys! I have a 1989 civic si with all original motor D16a6 with 240k miles with NGK Spark plug, aftermarket headers, new distributor & K&N intake. I just did an oil change and cleaned distributor cap and rotor.

The issue is when I floor the gas and switch gear from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd I get a huge delay of power then it will pick up like after 3 seconds. My brother in law assumed that it was giving so much gas that cause like choking.

Any idea of what seems to be the problem? Please help.

Fuel filter clogged? bad fuel pressure regulator, not maintaining pressure? vacuum line on it bad?

 

Thanks d4g4m. I will try to replace the fuel filter as a first step and I will start from there.
