Gsr Tranny or Ls tranny??
I have a 1996 integra ls and want to blow my auto trans so ic an put in a manual trans. I have heard that a gsr tranny builts directly to my block, is that true? If i put the gsr tranny, will i need a new computer or no? what extra work would be involved and does ne one kno the price of either?
Maybe you could try to sell the auto tranny, instead of blowing it? Unless you're trying to do this under warranty somehow...
A GSR tranny will bolt up with no problems and give you better acceleration.
You will have to change your car over to a manual (have clutch pedal installed, etc). You will also need a 5 speed LS ecu.

you would be better off selling your auto and buying a gsr... unless you have some reason to keep your current car... like sentimental value or time invested in it.

ls gears are longer, which in the longrun is better for the turbo.
Agreed. The GSR tranny will get you through the gears quicker, but if you don't have a redline to match... you'll be cruising at highway speeds at like 4-5 grand. I would do the LS tranny. For the reason I just mentioned, plus to the fact that the LS tranny will probably be priced a little lower, and it will also probably have less wear and tear. Since you will be doing all this work, it would also be a good idea to invest in a better clutch and flywheel while the tranny is out of the car.
As far as the ECU goes, you will need an ECU from a manual equipped LS/RS. The GSR ECU won't work in your non-vtec car.

how about instead of taking this advice, put a LS TRANNY in there, then turbo the car so u can smoke dumbass's like this.

ls gears are longer, which in the longrun is better for the turbo. i asked you a long time ago why this was true...and you couldnt answer it yet you are stating it again. Please elaborate.
The flawed concept that the LS tranny is better than the GSR tranny for boost is that the gears are longer, thus allowing you to stay in boost for a longer period of time.
The GSR tranny tranny isn't geared so tight it prevents one from reaching max boost unless you're running a ridiculously large turbo. Let's take a turbo car cruising at 80mph in 5th. If you mash on the gas, you'll eventually reach full boost, and thanks to the long gear, you'll be sitting in peak boost for a good amount of time. Same car and downshift, of course you won't be able to boost quite as long, but thanks to gearing, you're accellerating faster. You've achieved max boost, but boosted for a shorter period of time, yet moved faster than the car in the tall gear.
If you're strictly into drag racing at the 1320 strip and your car really is fast, then perhaps the LS tranny will be beneficial since it saves you the time of shifting into 5th gear (car has to be trapping well over 100mph). Problem is, this car with the LS tranny will be slower than an identical car with a GSR tranny in all other forms of competition which isn't exactly 1320 feet from a stop. So you get to the finish line sooner, because you saved the time in shifting...the car with the GSR tranny has a higher rate of accelleration, and if you're not a **** poor shifter, that extra time shifting into 5th shouldn't matter.
So please let's end the fallacy that an LS tranny is better than a GSR tranny for a boosted integra. Thank you.

You are completely missing the point. It would cost more and take more time to convert an auto to manual than to sell the whole car and buy a manual -- unless this he is gonna do it himself. Furthermore, he NEVER mentions getting a turbo, so why WOULDNT he go for shorter gearing??? Sorry, but you are the dumbass here.
