Default D16Z6 Random Misfire

Ok so I have a 94 Civic EX, original motor with 200,000 miles on it, just crossed that number last week. Yesterday driving the car home, the car is what feels like the entire motor misfiring for a full rotation, every cylinder. It would pop and it act like it didn't hit on any cylinder, and back to smooth running. It seemed like it did this at least once every half mile. It didn't do it with accelerating or slowing down, just while driving along around 50-55 mph and 2100-2300 rpm. To me it feels like it's jumped a tooth or 2 on the timing belt. It has new plugs, wires, and O2 sensor. Cap and rotor are clean, and no CEL. The distributor is all the way forward on the adjustment and if I move it back, it starts to run a little rough and rougher the further back I go. It's also sounds like it's backfiring while idling, I can hear small popping sounds out the back of the exhaust. Is my diagnoses correct or could there be something else wrong? Take note I have not taken the cover off to see if everything is in time or not. Will try and do that today.

No power loss, will still get up and go. And yeah, idle is fine other than the backfiring or missing, which ever it is.

Figured it out. Took the valve cover and top timing cover off, but it on TDC, and pulled the dist cap off. Rotor button was half way in between cylinder #2 and cylinder #1 on the cap. She is out of time by 2 or 3 teeth. Looks like I get to tear it down this weekend.

usally problems like engine rough working at low rpms without power loss are caused by ignition...

that is because at high rpms the altenator produce enough voltage and so the plugs...
