Check Engine Light - ECU Codes 7 and 13 Simultaneously
Hi everyone. My 1989 CRX Si is suddenly throwing two "Check Engine Light" (CEL) codes simultaneously: Code 7 (Throttle Position Sensor) and Code 13 (Atmospheric Pressure Sensor or Barometric Sensor). The car is no longer starting. I drove the car 45 miles non-stop for about 50 minutes without any problems . 5 hours later, I start the car, drive about 200 feet and the car suddenly shuts off with the CEL on. I tried starting the car but to no avail. I pushed the car back home, checked the ECU light & got 7 blinks followed by 13 blinks; the sequence repeated itself several times. I tried resetting the ECU and checked the ECU light afterwards; the code 7 was gone but the code 13 was still present. I started the car and it remained on for about 10 seconds before suddenly shutting off. At this point, both codes were present again. It was 930 at night so there wasn't much I could do to troubleshoot due to no light. But I have no idea what would cause my TPS and APS to suddenly have problems or/and fail at the same time. At this point, I''m thinking it could be my ECU itself. Any help or advice would help. Thanks a lot, I appreciate the help.
Check your grounds.
Check your wiring to ECU - make sure all wires are good, connectors are tight, wires go to the proper pins.
Electrically test the 2 sensors.
Replace sensors.
Start car and drive off like a mad man full of road rage.
