Check Engine Light Repair

Check Engine Light Repair
Car: 1995 Honda Civic LX Non-Vtec
So I scanned my car a few days go and got a Code 9 CYP Sensor failure. I replaced the whole distributor and now the car runs fine. I disconnected the battery for a minute to take off the code. Checking the codes over again using the paper clip method, the CEL is just bright. Does not flash or turn off during this phase. Just stays on.
1. What does a constant bright CEL light during scan mean? Did I repair the problem?
2. Should I take off the cables for 15 mins to restart the ECU?
3. How long is a drive cycle so that my car can do all the tests for emissions?

No. The moment I take the pins out, the CEL turns off. While the car is running, the light isn't on. I am just worried that if I take the car to get smogged that it will fail because the ECU will store codes up to a certain point. I fixed the problem. Just hoping the code isn't still in there. I am confused about the CEL staying on when I jump the service connector.

Re: Check Engine Light Repair
This^ means there are no codes stored in the ECU.

Really? I heard it takes awhile for codes to clear themselves. I removed the negative cable for a minute max. Well, as long as the code is not saved on the ECU then I am good. Was just super confused about the CEL staying on while jumping the service cable. Thanks for the info
Codes don't magically clear themselves. The moment you remove power by either pulling the negative battery cable or the ECU fuse in the engine compartment fuse box (marked BACKUP) and wait 3 minutes the codes are cleared.

Re: Check Engine Light Repair
once you jump the service connector you'll see the history of codes stored, that is where you'll need to clear it. My CEL isn't on, but when I jump the service connector I get a code for my o2 sensor.
