Default Is this Type R shell worth it?

Hello I'm looking to buy my first Type R, its a rolling shell i already have a 99 gsr and want to swap my recarro seats and Type r swap but i want the Type R community to let me know what they think about this shell! is it worth $5,500 as it sits? stolen recovery salvage title. Thanks guys. I think its worth it but i could be dead wrong!

Hmm idk. You will have around 10k into to make it complete. You can buy a clean title type r for that much.

My 2 cents, if you already have a motor and most parts ready to drop in and you don't care for the savage title/resale value, it's not a bad buy. If you don't, save your money for a complete clean title one.

if your buying everything new it would cost 10k but I think that shell is a hell of a lot better than what most of us started with. I think the price should be a little bit lower though

Sorry i should of mentioned i have a 99 GSR and i was gonna swap over my engine srd seats and a few small things. My body is a clean title but could use a new paint job. I have a build thread in forced induction about my supercharged Setup as well as in appearance and build threads. I already swapped in my Type r crate motor and have done some things like the 96 jdm Type r rims and 4.114.3 conversion. I have a guy Intrested in my shell at 2k.

Of course I knew all about your other teg. I thought this ITR is going to be an addition. $4K will make it from a "not bad" to a "good buy" maimly is because of the savaged title.

1st things 1st..everyone on this forum wants a "deal".

$6,000 is fair and $5,500 is good.

As far a clean title 98 ITR, for $10,000, yeah maybe with 170,000 miles.

Assuming the fresh paint is a quality job, $5500 seems like a pretty fair price for a shell as complete as that one. Why is it a salvage title? Theft or accident?

Yea i was planning to swap everything over to this ITR shell mainly cause i was gonna repaint the GSR body and at the time i bought this GSR shell i was low on funds but was fortunate to of found this GSR but now since I'm a little more stable as far as being able to upgrade i wanna take this ITR shell and and swap everything over and just roll around on this clean ITR since it has a descent paint job done recently.

I see it like this, i spend $5,500 on this shell sell mine for $2,500 and be in in it at $3,000. I was going to repaint the gsr which would of cost me $1,500 to maybe $2,000 for a decent paint job so instead of that put it toward the ITR shell which would technically put me in it at about only about $1,000 since i was going to put $1,500-$2,000 already into painting my GSR. So $1,000 or technically $3k to upgrade to a ITR body is not a bad deal imo. I don't plan to ever sell it so the salvage title don't matter to me.

For a few thousand more I will sell you my ITR shell with a clean title. I'll have a matching vin engine and tranny inside just so you can drive it home instead of having the hassle of renting a truck.

It's yellow though...

5,500 is a bit much IMO
But I hope he gets it so itr market prices will go up, haha

I was thinking of what you already have and I wonder if you have considered an EG shell?

Thanks CW-ITR i appreciate you looking out for me! If A D NOH gives me a better deal on his shell ill consider it but I'm still stuck on the White ITR in the link it just looks so clean besides the rock chips on the rims.

You should pay up, for the ITR shell, while it's available.

I don't have a a shell. It's a complete car minus abs/ps/ac.

I was just saying something similar to others that you can buy a working car for not much more than that shell.

I paid $5500 for a my shell with a bone stock, well maintainted engine and trans. It was missing the front end, 5 lug, seats and cluster and wheels.

For a track ***** I didn't need seats, got a 5lug for $675, front end with paint was about 600.

The car was totaled in GA a few years ago from a rear end accedent, but was fixed pretty well. It made it's way to CA and was then "stolen" although I suspect it was an insurance job.

AC still works and it weighs about 2400lbs.
