Car started making noise and so on
So I was driving to work , before this whole event my break light switch stopper broke , I switched it out with a magnet but it started to be unreliable , so I put in a bolt but it wasn't tight but it worked. Now flashback few weeks , i was Driving my car seemed to be going slower rumbling noise , I smelt like rubber was burning. I decided to pull into a parking lot. The car was smokey steamy a little near my headlights. I went to park up hill and i noticed my breaks weren't working at all , the pedal would go all way down with out any resistance. I went back later and now the brake pedal has resistance but i cant get the car to get out of Park , I turned ignition on and my had my foot on the pedal , but i couldn't get it to reverse.
Automatic?
If so and your brake pedal switch is broken/damaged then the shift interlock will not release if the brake pedal switch does not close. You can override the interlock by placing your key into the slot on the shifter and shift it out of Park.
If your pedal went dead with the car on, but now works with the car off, it may be that the MC is leaking. Brake fluid that spills onto hot exhaust can smell like burnt rubber.
Check your MC for leaks.
BTW, year, model, sub model, engine, and transmission information would better help us help you in the long run.
