Icon2 Should I spend $4000 on a B16/B20 or work my B16a2?

I've got a 1994 DelSol and I've been reading around the net and I got a quote from a experienced mechanic on a B16/B20 conversion, it includes installation, dyno tuning, B20b engine and a Hondata S300 Ecu which adds up to $4000, so I'm wondering should I spend that $4000 on something else? If so any ideas?

Another good idea could be purchase a GSR motor for a little more very reliable hp. They sell for around 2000 for long blocks often.

I guess knowing what you would like out of your car would help too or what you plan on doing with it.

I was thinking of putting a B18cr but thought I should as for opinions on my budget. My goals are what are the best and reliable ways of achieving more hp out of my car with a maximum $4000 budget, do you recommend spending it on a B16/B20 or B18cr or just work my B16?

I've been reading plenty of threads but I really haven't got a simple or straight forward answer

Well most power for the buck would be a simple turbo kit. Keep the boost down to a reliable 10-14 and the B16 would be just fine.

Bang for the buck Id buy a gsr long block for 2000 and put that in as it basically bolts right in. That isnt going to be any where as quick as a turbo b16 though. But alot more reliable.

Turbo would be pretty awesome but as of NSW laws no p plater is able to drive turbo, I should've been more specific

I'll do more research on the gsr swap but if I do stick with my B16 what mods do you recommend ? Thanks for your help !

NSW Laws? P plater? Thats new to me. I just noticed do not live in USA.

As far as the B16 and extracting alot of power out of it all motor I am a bit negative on that as hp per dollar spent is not a very good ratio. Maybe bolt ons and a mild cam would be reliable. That minor B20 build isnt a horrible option either just dont go too crazy on compression and it should stay together.

Good luck.

Here in Australia you have to go through certain levels to be able to gain your full license, there is learner, provisional 1 and provisional 2, they all have different restrictions, so pointless

Anyways champ thanks a lot, I'll doo more research !
