What ECU do I need?
Ok I just bought a car (1991 CRX Si~$1,000) that was stolen after it had blown the engine (pantyhose for an air filter) and now I have the car and it has a 1.6L SOHC VTEC motor from a 1992 Civic Si. The distributor doesn't completely bolt on, and it doesn't have the right ECU apparently, because the cables don't reach the VTEC pice in the head. The shop, ImspoRt Racing, told me I need a new ECU, but I dunno which ECU I'd need....so I'm coming to you guyz for help. Which ECU is the right one for the car???
Thanks,
Mike Thomas

The distributor doesn't completely bolt on,
Look on the drivers side wheel well for the injector resistor box. If you see the injector resistor box, then you know it is still wired for obd0. I suspect someone modified an a6 distributor and put it on there. If that is the case you would need an obd0 ecu. I have heard integra ecus would work, or you can use a pm6 ecu from a crx.
If you decide to upgrade to obd1 then like everyone else said use a p28 ecu.

Oh I got more information...I have a motor out of a 1992 Civic Si hatchback motor in a 1991 CRX Si. I've heard that even the Si's didn't have VTEC so the ECU I have won't work properly, since no CRXs in '91 had VTEC. So the guy said he can make it run w/ the current ECU, I dunno. though..I'm thinking I'm going to be in the market for an ECU. You guys are 100% sure about that ECU? I don't wanna blow it on some gay shyt.
The P28 is the right ECU for a 92-95 d16z6 but it will NOT plug into your stock harness unless it is modified. If your distributor doesn't fit right they are using the 88-91 OBD0 electronics to run the car. The conversion to run the P28 takes some work and money(you need the correct distributor, injectors, and ECU). The best option is the zdyne one wire conversion. As the name suggests it's just one wire and will make the car run the best.
