automatic shifter cable thing under car, whats proper removal protocal?
93 EH9. There's a cable from where the shifter sits, to the transmission. Its in the way of taking my subframe out. Its bolted to the subframe, and bolted to the car, and finally attached to the transmission.
should I unbolt it from the car near the shifter? Would that be all I have to do? Or is there something inside of it that will still be connected?

You were unclear on your car info, I could not tell it was an automatic transmission.
there is a cover where the cable goes into the trans. remove it. there are 2 10mm bolts holding that cable on, remove them. you can then slide the cable out and you should be good to go.
okay ill be checking that in a half hr when I get home. That and the power steering hoses is all that I need to take out, then I can pull the subframe out and sand off the rust paint it and rebuild my front suspension when my control arms get here
I cant get that rubber cover off, I pulled on it as hard as I could, then tried with pliers and its lodged in there pretty good.
I'm gonna try to pry it off with a screw driver or something

see where it goes into the trans? there is a plate around it held in by 3 (iirc) 10 mm bolts. remove them. youll see the end of the cable attached to the shift mechanism. the cable is held to it with 2 10mm bolts. remove them, and it will slide out.
This makes sense to me now. I thought I was suppose to be taking off something else..
thanks alot guys this is the only thing I have left, just took off the power steering hoses. I spent a half hour trying to pull off the larger hose before I gave up and cut it
