Sad to say, but after 17 years of owning this car, it needs more work than the car is worth and the state of CA will give me more cash than I could get trying to sell it myself.
I hate to give up some of the parts on the car to the dismantler so I'm going to part out what I can. I have 3 weeks to get this done so get in touch before it's too late.
I'm listing the things I know I want to sell, but if there is something else not listed that you want, let me know. If you need to see some pics, let me know.
Car/parts are in OCEANSIDE, CA. I'm willing to ship the small stuff if you are willing to pay the shipping.
If there's no price, make me an offer. If a part you need is not listed, ask me about it and make an offer.

You could make the first offer.
CAP program is dishing out $1500 for me to 'retire' it. Car needs at least $500 worth of work right now.

Yea, exactly. Way more than I could have gotten selling it outright. And now I am parting stuff out to make a little more out of the deal.
You don't think your car is worth way more than it actually is worth like most sellers here?! That's a first for hondamarketplace.com
What's wrong with it, why $500?
I'm not interested in buying, just wanted to know more about program. I have a civic with an automatic transmission shifting into wrong gears. Does it matter what year the vehicle is? Has to be complete and running? What's the guideline for the income eligibility? Are they sending an actual check or a cut from your tax.
Answer what you can. If I'm getting in too detail with your privacy, I apologize.

Anyways, $500 cause the civic needs a new rack and pinion, tires, and alignment....that's the beginning of the list for getting it back to being a daily driver.
It's all good man. A lot of people probably don't know about the program. Same program if you fail smog in CA, if you meet income, you can get $500 from the gov't to get your car fixed to pass smog.
The flip side to that program is CA really just wants old cars off the road and they are willing to pay. There are requirements you have to meet of course but basically at minimum you can get $1000 for your car if you 'retire' it by taking it to an approved dismantler. If you meet low income eligibility, like me being unemployed at the moment, you get $1500 for the car.
The car has to run and you have to drive it to the dismantler under its own power, and they do a basic inspection of the car. There's a list of what it takes to pass.
And it's not a tax rebate. The dismantler cuts you a check on the spot.

Fill out a basic one page form, mail it out, and wait a few weeks to see if you are approved.

The hood is available but the corners on each side by the windshield are bent from having it shipped to me a long time ago. And where it's bent it has started to rust where the paint chipped off. The rest of the hood is pretty good minus the typical road wear you might expect from 20 years.
