Hi!!!
I was wondering if somebody knows where I can find the How-to for this swap or a website that carries this information.

He's talking about EKs, not EGs.
Hey, I just did this !!! Turned out awesome. I can take some pictures and either post them here or send them to ya. I still haven't put the radio back in, but I might just put the block off plate in instead and relocate the radio.

I got a nice Pioneer DEH 11 that lights up AMBER to match your interiors. It's in Excel Cond. and I am taking best offers just let me know. AIM is papi0621y2k.
It is really easy in a 99-00 Civic.
But NOT easy at all in a 96-98. And I refuse to explain AGAIN why.

just take yours out and put that one in.
That would be my guess. you might have to reroute your harnesses, but I am not an expert when it comes to the 99-00 EK.
I am just an expert on attempting to put a 99-00 climate control into a 96-98 chassis. I did a ton of research and planning to find out that I didnt want to have to change my dash too.

Hi!!!
In my 99 CX, the dash lighted blue and I dissasembled the entire thing and took the blueish cover that the lights had and "presto"... They all came to light amber. I don't know about 96-98, but just swap the bulbs with the SI then.

You need to change the entire heater box because that is where the tempcontrol motor is. and that is just the start.
I already changed my CC with SI gel caps and soldered in new LEDs for all the buttons.

should have known you would have thought of dat..
hey tony..what gel caps are you talking about?? i wanna have my climate control (96-98) amber like so and i dont know where to get the gel caps..i looked on the back of and Si cluster and there just normal lights with no cap thingys on them..thanks for the help
my caps came from an SI cluster that I bought when trying to peice together parts for the coversion. Then when I took my car apart a little for a closer look at the wiring and stuff, I said to myself, ****, there is no way this 99SI CC is going in this car and LOOKING good without changing the dash.
That is when I pulled the bulbs out of the SI CC and took the gelcaps and put them on my bulbs.
So if you goto the dealer and order these bulbs from a 99si then they will have the orange gel caps on them. I believe the bulbs are 3 bux each. You will need two.
Lots of people have had good luck painting the bulbs. I forgot what paint gave the best results but a search should find it.

Its your lucky day, I just explained this to someone today via IM.
""""Take your radio out.
Take the lower center cover off. Contort yourself so you can see under, then remove 2 screws holding the center console to the dash. Then remove (pry from center) hazard and defroster switches. There are 2 more screws in there.
Then you have to disconnect the solid wire on the heat control slider, easier to do at the heaterbox.
Then pull the entire center console out. Then unscrew the climate control unit from the center console, but you can change the bulbs from the top of the climate control if your radio or radio bracket aren't in the way.
I might be off in the instructions a little bit because I havent done it in ages.
