Hi all,
New member here (in UK). I've owned my S2000 (year 2000) for 6 years now, always well serviced, but I've had this problem plaguing me for over 8 months now. I've had several mechanics try to solve the issue, to no avail.

The problem is sporadic, but this is what happens..
Start the car from cold, it runs like a dream. Park up, switch off engine, leave for 10 mins+, restart engine and it runs poorly, and will not rev above 2K RPM. I can have my foot still on the gas pedal and the revs just drop down to a rough idle.

If I turn the engine off, and back on it is 50/50 if it will do it again or be all OK & run like a dream again.

So far, I've had the following replaced: MAP sensor, TPS sensor, Crank Sensor, new Cat, new plugs, full service. I'm suspecting an inlet cam sensor (TDC Sensor) (new one on order) and maybe a coolant temp sensor.

Please can someone help, as I'm at the stage of selling the car, which will break my heart!

PS. I never get a CEL.

If it's really in "limp mode" then the dash light would come on and you would have a CEL. That makes me think the ECU is going bad.

 

Thanks Lazlong.. I fitted a new inlet TDC sensor a few days ago, and so far he car has been behaving.. fingers crossed that has solved it. Having no CEL is still odd.. I'll keep my eye on it!
