rear drums - how long until replacement
Just did the front pads & rotors @ 41k. Aprox. how long can I expect until the rear drums, shoes need to be replaced. I've only done discs over the years myself and does anyone have a ballpark $$ to have the rears done by local garage, not dealer?
you can check by taking the drum off and taking a peak, just be careful moving the drum past the rust ridge so you dont end up making everything fall apart. Alot of shops will do a free brake inspection, to have them done is about an hour flat rate for shoes and hardware, a brake flush is another hour, so with parts im going to say the $300-$400 ballpark (assuming $100 per hour, with the flush) you dont have to get the flush, although hondas research has led them to a recommended 30k brake fluid interval, but if the shop tests it and the alcolidity/copper content is low enough its ok. hope this helps
They usually last 100k+. It just depends. Take a hammer and hit the drum till it starts to come off and a take a look. Here is DIY thread http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/diy-h...placement.html . Hope it helps.
