Default inverter vs laptop car charger

im assuming a dedicated laptop power adapter is better than using an inverter and laptop power adapter when tuning to minimize the wideband offset?

am im correct or it doesnt make that big of a difference?

I receive intermittent power pulses from inverters.... I don't like them.

Power output is crucial.

I never observed any adverse effects when using my inverter but direct DC power should be better (on paper at least).

I have noticed unless like 500watts my dinosaur old reliable tough book and latitude get pulses from the inverters.

The Dell laptop I use for tuning has an express charge option. When I disabled that in the BIOS it stopped pulsing.

I've got a little inverter that plugs into the aux power. Its never been powerful enough to keep the laptop charged. I think I got it at best buy.

Back when I was tuning a lot, I considered going with something more powerful but I've got no use for something like that now that I've stopped.

You shouldn't need more than 60 watts to maintain power, which theoretically doesn't affect your offsets more than your stereo would. BUT cheap inverters WILL pulse simply because they're generating a sine wave and they don't have a capacitive filter. I would definitely recommend a DC power source for a laptop unless you paid $200 for your inverter.

We have seen inverters damage K-Pros and s300s as the voltage spikes can damage the various components on them. It is best to just have a good battery, or plug into a proper AC access point outside the vehicle.

do you guys recommend one of those voltage stabilizers or maybe a simple car audio capacitor when using inverter or any kind of power draining acessory?

Get a working battery instead for the laptop instead. You will save yourself money and headaches.

That one you found on NewEgg will work and shouldn't cause any tuning problems for you. But it really is better just to get an extended life battery.

I have always had an inverter. I have had a small tv and a game system and a laptop running all at the same time without a problem while at idle.
