I recently took my headers off the block of my civic with a B20 block/B18 head and saw that cylinder # 3 was very wet with oil. I recently got some head work done (Skunk2 Pro series valves, springs, retainers, and guides). so I am about to take the engine apart and check the piston rings but i would also like to look at the valve guides but wouldnt know what to look for when it comes to the guides... Is there any simple test to do without having to take it apart or will i have to bite the bullet and take the head apart?

No real test. Does the vehicle smoke at all?

 

Yeah i was getting a little black/blue smoke nothing major

 

Does it smoke during acceleration, deacceleration, or acceleration after part throttle cruise/closed throttle situations?

 

Brand new OEM Honda seals are less than $20 for all 16.

 

Only under heavy acceleration im pretty sure
