Default 99 accord swap issues

Hey guys. I have a 99 accord auto ulev motor. I had issues with the engine so I found a good ulev motor out of an 02. I installed it This weekend and fired it up. Fires up fine, but won't rev past 1500 RPM and wants to die after you rev it. I have no codes coming out. I went and bought a new distributor and issue still remained the same. Plugs rotor cap all good. Iam wondering if the crank position sensor are different even though they should be the same. Even if bad I think it should give a code right away. Any ideas guys?

Have you checked the timing? Also, fuel injectors?

EDIT: Also, a buddy of mine had this problem (with a truck) and it ended up being his fuel pump.

Glad you mentioned timing. I didn't get a chance to check it but as I was installing the distributor I realized its fixed position. So how would you adjust timing assuming its off.

I believe starting in '96 the distributor cannot be adjusted. If timing is off the camshaft timing belt may be loose or out of alignment.
Are you reusing our old intake/exhaust manifolds, or did you 'new' engine have those parts and you are reusing them?

Check for basics, fuel, spark, air.

What were the issues with the original engine?

Yes Iam reusing everything off my old motor which I know where working fine on the motor before, except crank position sensor. Old motor had a cracked head or leaking HG, it still ran fine. Except for smoke upon start up. Iam pretty stumped here. I checked spark seems good, fuel seems good. It starts up and idles fine but won't rev. Any other ideas guys?

Go to rockauto, and pull up both a 99 and an 02, look at the part numbers for the various sensors. See if all are the same.
