Default D16Y8 Head from 2000 Civic Si -> D16Y7 Dizzy

I purchased the head off of one guy last night and looking for all the other parts to make it work.

Can I use this distributor on this head? I have a guy who has one and I am not sure if it is OBD1 or OBD2 it is off of a '99 CIvic.

Basically, I want to do the "mini-me" swap or head VTEC ugrade, I will be upgrading to OBD1 for all of this.

Current engine is a D16A6 /ZC SOHC.

Thanks for any advice.

So I ended up ordering a distributor (OBD1) that is compatible with '92-'95 Civic/DelSols and should bolt up. Just the wiring work I need to do for OBD0->OBD1 conversion which will tie in nicely with the swap.

Looks like the stock PM6 intake manifold also bolts up so the Skunk2 I currently have will also bolt up nicely to the head.

Ordered a new MSD cap and rotor for the dizzy so I can use my MSD external coil, also ordered an entire new set of gaskets for the head, plugs, etc. I think this will be really nice.

The VTEC solenoid came already with the head so looks good, probably going to start pulling the head off the car soon-ish but I have other things on the go too (painting the entire car)

Only think I need now is the chipped P28 ECU and conversion harness which I
m working on getting as we speak. (chipped because I also have a T3 turbo)

Very excited to see this running VTEC+Turbo - then I can put those cheesy *** VTEC stickers somewhere on the car.

Anyway, that's the update for now figured some people may be interested.

That OBD1 VTEC distributor has it's own unique flange pattern that will only fit perfectly with 92-95 VTEC SOHC D-series heads.

I was somewhat concerned about that, will I only be able to find an OBD2 distributor that will fit on the head? (and I guess some re-wiring work) or is there an OBD1 distributor that will fit on the head I have?

Interesting, this will fit:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-2000-Honda-Civic-Oem-Distributor-Obd-2-5-Speed-D16y8-Sohc-Vtec-Ek-/131142307203?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e88b0cd83&vxp=mtr
BUT this is what I purchased:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/271262825060?...84.m1439.l2649

The photos of the mounting flange looks like they are the same or is there subtle differences that it simply won't line up? Curious, or is there more to it (wiring issues, etc)

You could use the OBD2 D16Y8 distributor with your OBD1 P28 ECU (they are compatible) and change out the plugs OR buy a distributor conversion harness.
All of the OBD1 d-series distributors will bolt up to the head EXCEPT for the D16Z6.

Thanks! I decided to convert the OBD2B distributor I picked up to the OBD0 plugs myself without purchasing a harness, it isn't rocket science matching wires as long as they are being mapped correctly:
