Filler for Caliper? What to use?
Hi all,
Here's my plan - use some type of high heat filler to get rid of this stupid small notch on the side of my calipers. This would give the side a nice even edge that I could put these custom Honda decals I had made on. As of right now the notch in the middle would make any decal look weird as it would be on uneven surface. I was thinking something like JB Weld High Heat putty epoxy that would bond well to the aluminum caliper and then shape and let cure. Then sand it to finely shape it with the rest of the edge of the caliper and paint it with caliper paint. Next place the decal on the newly evened out surface, then cover with engine enamel clear coat.
I just want to know if the jb weld/quicksteel whatever will hold well to the caliper and won't fail and come off soon. And if you think it would be fine, what brand/type of filler or metal epoxy do you recommend?
I have included a picture that shows the small rectangular area I want to even out. This is not my vehicle but looks simiilar

Thanks for responding. I went ahead and got some quiksteel putty because it also says can withstand up to 500 degrees, and cures very fast. Bought some 60 grit sandpaper to rough up the caliper for the bond and hope it holds from road vibrations. I don't think heat will be much of an issue where it will be placed.
Anyway, the worst case scenario is I go through a lot of work and paint and then that section pops off and I have to simply repaint it with the notch.
I will let you know how it holds up and post some pics tonight.

What's the coefficient of thermal expansion of the Quiksteel putty vs that of the cast caliper?
If they're not very close it will just crack and fall off pretty quickly...
