93 Accord
I found a 93 Accord with 215K miles, the seller is asking $2k but said he won't go lower than $1.8k. The car has had the timing belt replaced, new struts, new brakes, axles, bushings, and that's it I think. He says it needs new spark plug seals which I can replace although I know it's not one of the easier things to fix on a F22.
What do y'all think about the price on such an old car with high mileage? And when I go to check it out, what should I be looking for as far as common problems, and if I buy it, what are the must do's?

If the compression is fine and doesn't miss then the only other concern would be the transmission. If it is MT does it shift easily with no grinding? If it is an AT how often was it serviced and what condition is the fluid in now?
IMO if it is AT and there is no known service history(cannot produce paperwork) I would knock $3-500 off his price. ATs last a long time with no service, but do tend to get gummed up by 225-250K miles if the fluid has never been changed.
Verify that all the warning lights work, ABS, CEL, D4 light etc should all come on when the car is turned on. If these lights do not come on then they are burned out and their may be a hard fault in the system. If you can check for any existing codes.

The spark plug seals are pretty easy to change. All you have to di is remove the 4 nuts on the valve cover and pull them off. They normally come in a kit woth the valve cover gasket. Check the oil to. I like to pull the oil cap off and look at the cyliders with a flashlight. With that many miles, they should be a light brown to medium brown color. If its black, oil changes dont happen often and that may be a sign of things to come. These cars range anywhere from 500 to 3500 depending on mileage and care.

the spark plug tube seals are under the rocker arm assembly... its not hard to replace the tube seals but it will take about an hour and a half for a first timer .. just look in the faqs for the diy
I believe he is the talking about the spark plug tube seals that are attached to the valve cover gasket. Pop the valve cover off, you'll see four little circular rubber pieces. Get the beck-arnley tube seals for about $2, stick 'em in there. Put the valve cover back on.

The spark plug tube seals are seals located down inside the spark plug tubes, hence the name for them.
However, you can believe anything they put at that site, thats going to be your choice.
If you look in the faq's it will show how to replace the tube seals which, again, requires removing the rocker arm assembly.
Again, those are NOT spark plug tube seals, those are spark plug to valve cover gaskets. They mislabeled them.

Honda sells all these gaskets and seals individually.....
If you have an F22A or F22B2 and there is oil in the spark plug tubes. It is just easier to replace both the upper spark plug tube gasket and the lower spark plug tube O-ring at the same time. Saves having to go back in there if it was the lowers in the first place.
While your at it, might as well make a day of it and do the timing belt, water pump and adjust the valves. You have to adjust the valves after removing the rocker assembly anyway.
