94 del sol rear disk swap problem
hello i recently did a rear disk brake swap on my 94 del sol, the brakes worked perfectly before the swap, after i finished the swap, the brake pedal goes all the way down, while the car is off itl hold after a few pumps, if i turn it on itl go down fast wont hold pressure, i was told i may need a 40/40 prop valve it has a 25/25 on it right now, any suggestions?
yes right after finishing i bled the brakes, and the pedal would go down i had the small concern it was the disk slimming down and the caliper pushed out, and found out the right caliper was bad, so i went and got a replacement i replaced it yesterday, today ima bleed the brakes and see if it helps while i was at it i replaced the rotors and pads, although i did find a 30/30 prop valve, i know most say a 40/40 works best but i had no luck finding it and 300 bucks im not gonna pay for one, any one done a swap and used a 30/30?
What vehicle did the rear discs/caliper set up that you're using come off?
I picked up a used set of Del Sol rear discs for my hatch. I noticed the prop valve on the Del Sol was something LIKE a 1720 or 1790. I have a 3030 in my hatch, but the Si and and some LX/EX come with a 3040. I found a 3040 on an LX with rear drum. I think I paid $12 for it from the junkyard.
I have not done my conversion yet. And I'm not sure I'll be replacing the prop valve anyway. There are a lot of differing opinions out there on whether or not it needs to be done and if the Honda prop valve is really even a proportioning valve.
The 4040 prop valve comes off the Integra and most people use that when they use the Integra rear disc/caliper set up. You should easily be able to find one in the junkyard.
