i ran a search, but only other codes....I read a code 1 and 17...i believe code 1 is oxygen content, and code 17 is vehicle speed sensor. How can i fix those? any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

i have a Code 17 also ....does your odometer and your speedometer work? because mine dont.

I need help with this too how do you fix both probs?

 

yeah they work. i just saw 1 flash then a pause then there were 17 continously flashes after that 1..so i figured that was code 1 and 17..is that correct?

reset the ecu and hopefully that should work
i was getting code 7 (tps sensor) and i reset the ecu and it was gone

Code 17 should show a long flash and followed by 7 quick flashes of light on your ECU.

 

then wat is 1 flash...then 17 contiuously flashes after that..

 

yeh thats what im getting too, 1 flash meaning the ecu is on and then 17 flashes after that?!?!?! come on people. we need some help!

 

One flash.....o2 sensor is bad...replace it
17 flash....Vehicle Speed Sensor...Check speedo cable to see if the clip that hold the cable to the tranny is on. If it is on, then check to see if cable is broken by unpluging the speedo cable from gauge cluster and from tranny, take a drill and clip it to one end of the cable and turn it. Have a friend check the other end to see if it's rotating. IF not replace it. once you are all done, pull out the hazard fuse in the engine bay to reset the ecu. Have fun

 

hes right about the first but the second it could some wiring in your car. have you recently done in wiring changes to your car? add a tach or anything. check behind your cluster to make sure all the connections are on and on good.

 

i just recently replaced my exhaust yesterday and checked my ecu. and there are no more codes. so i guess thats good. and i also replaced my o2 sensor. maybe thats why. And the other things about re wiring. I had to rewire my parking light/instrument light wires because they were burnt out and touching each other, and everytying works. But now when i start my car sometimes the RPM guage stays down,and everthing else works, but i just gotta give a good tap on the Cluster cover and it pops right up.Maybe somethings loose???, gotta go check..thanks

 

Clean your connection in the distributor. take off your cap and clean all the connection. The same problem happen to me. Tach would stay dead until i rev it alittle.

 

make sure ur speedo cable didnt come off the tranny... thats usually a normal problem that happens//
