f22b2 vs v tec
While looking at craigslist ads tonight on 94 & 95 accords,cars having the f22b2 engine seems to be a selling point. I always thought the v tec was a better engine. Which is more sought after?
its all ones opinion but in the f22 series motors vtec is merely there for fuel economy, not so much power. I personally don't care much for vtec unless its in a b, h, or j series.
of course this is just my opinion.

I can vouch for the vtec in the jdm b18 w/ lsd. I drove a teggy with one, hit vtec and it was like ahhh yeaaahhhh hahahah. Thing ripped pretty good despite being poorly taken care of by the owner.
B2= 130 HP
B1= 145 HP
I would have either over the 2.7 V6 model.
B1 feels torquey down low, pulls through the midrange and keeps going til redline. It's not a H22 VTEC screamer, but the power is constant and linear. B2 feels kind of laggy til about ~3Krpm, then pickups power but then seems to fall on its face towards the top end.
As for sought after, depends on what someone wants. I would assume a stripper DX model would be lighter than a loaded EX, and most likely an EX will not have been abused. But if you are gonna gut it or do an engine swap/turbo/whatever it doesn't really matter what engine is in the cars.

If we are logging miles, mine was around 310 when I finally yanked the head...the last 6 or so run with a blown head gasket. I bought it that way, can't wait to see what a properly running engine does to it!
From reliability and such, if you are in the market for a 94-97 accord, just pick one that has the options you want. Mine was a loaded LX with a 5 speed...1 owner. It was what I wanted so I snagged it.
