Default loss of power

Hello I have a 91 accord. My power steering pump went bad and hose blew causing the fluid to drip directly on to my alternator causing it to catch fire. I just replaced the alternator brand new out of the box and now I loose power. If radio and wipers are on the radio will cut out and wipers run slow. Also the battery light does not come on until I turn the car completely off and the light stays on until I disconnect battery. I also changed the alternator connector thinking it would fix it seeing that the original was melted. I have not gotten the battery tested yet will be doing that tomorrow. Any other ideas of what it could be.
