OFFICIAL IDRC WEST COAST NATIONALS - Fontana, CA - April 12, 13th 2014
Hey everyone,
My name is Jun Chen and I'm from DSPORT Magazine. For 2014, we're re-launching our BorgWarner / Full-Race Import Drag Racing Circuit (IDRC) presented by Motovicity Distribution! We wanted to personally invite all you guys out to our first event, the IDRC West Coast Nationals!
The race will be held at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, CA on April 12 & 13th, 2014.
We've reworked the rulebook and classes to help ensure the most competitive racing. We've also taken a lot of the feedback received from racers (including you guys) and amended our rulebook to reflect it.
The rules, payout, jackpot, contingency program and ticketing information is available on our website: www.importdrag.com
We hope to see you guys out there!

I'll pass along this question to our director and get back to you within 24 hours. We also wanted to let you guys know that we will be amending the rules to allow FRONT-MOUNT FUEL CELLS in the PRO-AM ALL-MOTOR class. This change has been made because many of the racers in this class currently utilize a front-mount fuel cell setup. Let me know if you guys have any more questions!
Thank you,
Jun
I seen on the website that there will be 4 rounds of qualifying. If I plan to run in the true street class, can I show up on Sunday for qualifying or do I have to be there on Saturday?
Also, we've had a couple questions on how to get to Auto Club Dragway so here's a map that we built for you guys.
Thanks,
Jun
I got a few more questions regarding the true street class. I see that dot radial tires are required. What about Hoosier quick time pros. They are DOT but bias ply and not radial. Are those allowed? And will you guys be enforcing NHRA rules cause my car is a street car with just a rollbar that runs low tens but sometimes will trap 136-137.

As all of the tracks on our schedule are NHRA tracks (Auto Club Dragway included), yes, we will be abiding by the NHRA rulebook for safety guidelines. This question has come up regarding the Hoosier QTP bias-ply's about a week ago with someone else. While we will reluctantly allow the QTP's for the West Coast Nationals, we do reserve the right to change the rules in the future if we deem these tires an unfair advantage over a DOT drag radial. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you,
Jun
LBP,
The PRO-AM Turbo class is a class designed for street cars. As per the rulebook, the "Exhaust must exit behind the rear tire on the vehicle. Open wastegate dumps are permitted." So no, a vehicle competing in the PRO-AM Turbo class cannot have a hood-exit exhaust.
Thank you,
Jun

I just got home to San Diego from this event....so here is my 02 cents. I was a bracket racer in my dd Gti and was a observer when I could.
First of all I want to thank Idrc for a 2 day event. It was a great event for any racer who needed to tune or tweak his car. I got in over 30 passes in my daily driver for example as did a lot of other cars. Even when cars in classes were eliminated IDRC let them run in fun runs. I honestly think that was a great thing...perhaps in the future certain class cars could pay a extra fee and get a few extra passes in the fun run time trials.
Like the previous posters said...Bisi ran numerous low 9 sec passes most in the 140+ mph range. He eventualy won the class against a fast green early rotary(sorry I didn't catch his name)....
TB was running mid 130+ mph 10 sec passes. Unfortunately he had axle issues. When he gets those issues figured out...watch out all motor pro-am...
Jason Parks was a beast all weekend. In qualifying he ran a low 9...9.1 or 2 @ 170+...
Nobody except Loarca was as fast.
All the Jerry Built cars were beast's All were fast. 9-10 second cars....I lost track of them because it seemed all were going 140 mph lol.
Ali Ashfar did his thing in the WRX and dominated and won his class. I will say that the competition was tough in this class. All the awd's were fast...the Subies...the 3 red Evo's. All were going 140+ mph and low 11's to low 10's.
In outlaw class it seemed like it was basically a race that was going to come down to 2 cars. Cars that the people in attendance are not to familiar with...but became fan favorites. First car being(and I hope I spell this right) Erick Calabrese in his VW Bug aka The Red Baron vs Santos in the Toyota. Both these cars were beasts. On Saturday the Red Baron got the #1 spot with a 8.0xx@180 mph. Meanwhile Santos also was solidly into the 8's...
In competition today both cars pretty much dominated their opponents...lifting to wins. In the final tho...the Red Baron laid down a 7.96 et vs a kicking myself...I don't remember but it was also a fast Santos pass.
Some side notes.
Ali Ashfar brought out his BRZ beast...and made a few passes. That is a legit 7 sec monster.
I'm not sure who the guy was in the McLaren was but to see a "super car" come to a 2 day import event and race both days in a class.... I don't care what anyone thinks, but that was awesome. His machine was stock...ran mid 10's @ 135/136 every run...not only that...he was like 70 years old!!!
The rail with the Supra engine was also a killer. It was great seeing that thing go 6XXX@202 mph....
I hope that helps a bit. It is just what I could observe when I was not racing.
I do have some pictures and videos on my Instagram account. My username is xock_ i got a bisi pass...the Red Baron...And Parks as well as a few others and a bunch of pictures....that I will be adding more to.
