Default h22a running ragged bad timing or bent valves?

Hey guys have a 97 civic with jdm h22a swap and the other day I changed my mt fluid with the honda mt fluid as recommended and took the car for a spin. Was on the interstate when I was passing a car all the sudden my car started running like it was fouling plugs and sounded like a lawnmower. When I would rev up and shift it backfired quite a bit. Is this timing or does something else make these same symptoms? Help greatly appreciated

I would check the timing before you assume bent valves. Check your timing belt tensioner as well, the oem auto's suck...

Not sure how trans fluid effects the engine...? lol

Video speaks volumes over typed words.

As suggested above, my first check would be mechanical timing, sounds an awfull lot like a slipped timing belt/ bad auto tensioner.
