Free engine replacement for 2006-2009 Honda Civics
Normally I've over in the racing subforum but thought I'd post this here for ya.
Do you own a 2006 to 2009 Honda Civic with a coolant leak? You could be in luck. Honda is offering a new engine block or completely new engine, free, to owners of 2006 through 2008 and some early 2009 Civics that have developed a coolant leak coming from the engine block.
More info over on the Consumer Reports site... http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/n...vics/index.htm

Part of this is old news, when I worked for Honda 4 years ago we were replacing these engines due to cracked blocks, but it was a TSB, which aren't released to the general public, and the normal warranty applied. This is different in that it covers models 8 years old with no mileage restriction.
Thanks for the original post. Without a similar post I may have dug into my own pocket instead of Honda covering mine (including tow).
When I had the coolant leak I started looking for local shops to do the work. At that time I'm pissed with only 155,000 miles on the car.
I came across a post on this topic and a TSB was mentioned. I called Honda and they said we'll come and get it and do the work, no charge.
Included new transmission fluid, power steering fluid and oil with filter.
Engine near new with 155,000 miles. Included an additional 2 year warranty.
Knowing the engine is solid I just gave the car a 200,000 mile birthday present (alum. rims, tires, front wheel bearings, rotors/brakes, struts, shocks).
Honda came thru for me.
Keep on posting!

The article doesn't exactly say but I assume everyone is covered.

How do you know this? Link?
