Honda Accord 2000 Manual Transmission accelleration issue
I have a Honda accord 2000 stick shift vetch engine 4 cylinder. I recently had an issue. Every time I would up shift from 1st to 2nd and step on the gas pedal to speed up, my rpm would go up(the rpm would go up to 3000-4000rpm and higher depends on how much and how fast I push down on the gas pedal) but the car would go about the same speed. This will not happen if I slowly step down on the gas pedal to speed up. From 2nd to 3rd, and from 3rd to 4th the same issue. From a stop position to 1st gear no problem at all.
I don't know what could be causing this issue?

Your clutch is starting to slip. You need to replace your clutch. Clutch disk material is just like brake pad material. Over time it starts running out of material. Unlike brake pads clutch disks don't have wear indicators.
Factory is Exedy, so just get an Exedy clutch...

Just looked up the parts from Honda, TB is $70, PP is 150, disc is 125, hell even if you don't need the clutch right now that is a bargain from Amazon.

Mike, is replacing the clutch something that can be done over a weekend with a helper or two and a Chilton manual/fsm? Or is that something you should pay someone to install? I've never done it before but I can feel my clutch is on its last legs
if ur good u can go to the junkyard and pull the tranny in 1 1/2 hours or less as ive done if you have all the correct tools at the time
for a first timer u can probably spend an entire day each pulling and reinstalling it, not to mention 2 hours installing the clutch and flywheel

A transmission jack would greatly help in removal/installation. I prefer the mechanical jack that Harbor Freight sells. With coupons/sales you can usually snag it for ~$70.
FWIW the red link in my sig 'remove/install AT' is for installing an AT into a 94-97 Accord but should be pretty much the same for your '00 with a few exceptions and the MT/AT difference.
