Default what is this thing on the window for ?

i never knew what this little thing that sticks out on the edge of the window trim is for ?

and is it ok if i remove it ? cause mine is all weird, cause the cap piece came off so now its just a metal tab that i bent back, and i wrapped electrical tape around it, but now its getting in the way and sometimes my window won't roll up all the way in the top edge.

I'd like to know this as well... I always guessed it was to suck the window in tight for wind noise?

My EG Doesn't have it and that area is EXACTLY where the window starts to pull out from the weather insulation strip at about 85MPH. Prob there to keep wind noise down.

yes, at hiway speeds, the windows are sucked in an outwards movement. This little bracket helps hold the window in place, plus can help act as a guide when rolling the window up past 60mph

ok, thats sort of what i was thinking it might be for, i should just bend the metal tab back how it was and find that black cap piece that goes over it, and fix so its normal again, cause don't want remove that since its there for a purpose.

the one on my passenger side is good and i looked at it real close and it did'nt look like it did much?, cause it just comes out of the metal tab which is bent into the little slot under the rubber weather seal, but that black piece does'nt even touch the window or go against it ? it has little gap between it

so seems like would'nt matter if i took them off? cause if it does'nt touch the window, then how would it act to keep the window down? or work as any type of guide?

if the window is lined up right, and your rubber seal/trim is good then the window should be rolled up into the edges and keep in place good enough. it barely moves if i try and move it back and forth when rolled all the way up? so how would that little thing do anything?
