Default H22A Euro R swap in 02 accord?

summer time is creeping just around the corner and that means where i live on the beach, is going to get busy and fun

However, my 02 auto-tragic accord just isn't really cutting it anymore. the f23 is just to slow for me, so after researching, i found the Accord Euro R and i love it, found a h22 block from a 01 Euro R and i was wondering about a few things. please mind, im fairly new to this. the most ive done was just bolt on addons to my car and this is the biggest thing i'd be doing to my car, if i go through with it.

would this swap fit my accord, like a direct fit? if not, how much modding would i need to do. How much would it cost, from the moment i start the project to the moment i finish? about how long would it take? also, if i just bought the block and stuck with my stock F23 components, would that work?

i've asked a few friends but they are mostly nissan guys and they don't know too much about it, so im hoping i can get some info here. any and all help is appreciated, thanks!

Have you gone over the Accord FAQ at the top of the page?
Plenty of information on H swaps into Accords.

yes, but i havent found anything that specifically caters to what im asking. if possible, i want to just swap the h22 block onto the stock f23 parts. but as said, im a newbie. i've looked here and elsewhere and i keep getting mixed answers.

Several folks have done the 'g' series swap where an H head is used on an F block. Architecture of both blocks is very similar. They are of the same family. However with the H22 it is a big bore(87mm) short stroke(90.7mm), vs the slightly smaller bore(86mm) longer stroke(97mm) of the F23. Retaining the F23 head and cam the H22 block combo will be slower than the F23 stock as you will lose the advantage of the longer stroke and torque. Combined with retaining the taller gear ratios in the transmission, at best it would be slower, at worst a dog.

Okay I see, so what would you recommend as a good combo. as far as the block and tranny go. My goal is to reach around 350-450hp. I just want a fun DD nothing too serious

These engines require a special intake manifold gasket and they have an egr that's a bitch to work with. There's a thread towards the top of the Prelude subforum that shows what you're going to be up against. It's doable but a lot easier to just drop in an h22a.

If you're going to delete the egr then you'll be good to go. Depends on your states emissions program and how lenient it is depending on if you can use a chipable ecu.

i live in SC and as far as i know we really don't have any emission rules, at least not that i know of. here are the engines i've been looking at:

and an H23A SiR that i found. not to sure about H23's though.

H23 VTEC blue top can be purchased in 187 or 197HP variants. If it truly is a SiR then it is the 197HP variant which was used with a 5spd MT. To take advantage of the increased power and powerband of the SiR engine, it would be best to use the SiR transmission as well.

oh okay, ill have to check on that. problem is, my car is automatic. i can't fit any kind of MT without having to do a full conversion, which i heard is really pricey. any alternatives?
