Default Honda beginner looking for real answers

Hey everybody I have a 1990 civic HB that is bone stock. It still runs good nothing is wrong with the car I drive it everyday but I am looking for a bit more. I am new to hondas this is my first one so I am in need of guidance. I am able to do most anything under the hood but I am not sure where to start with this car. Should I do an engine swap? If so what engine? Maybe a mini me swap, maybe leave it stock and just add a little boost and a few other little things then clean it up make it look pretty? This is no race car its my daily driver and one i can put my 2 little boys in the back and go for a ride in daddy's car. I don't have buckets of cash as I have a family but I do have some just what to do with it. Any input would be great, but that said I am not looking for "just google it" or a bunch of people arguing about why I am stupid for asking a question like this. I have done a bunch of motor swaps and turbos and other stuff to other cars mostly Toyota but I am ready for a change. So thanks for any feedback.

The first thing anyone here will ask is your intent. Assuming your intent is cheap additional HP I would recommend starting with a mini-me. Then moving into a boosted mini-me. Unless your looking for 300+hp a boosted mini-me is good cheap power.

By no means do an e-bay turbo. You should look at the name brands. Additionally I believe there are some sub 3k super charger kits for the D.

Just remember with a family, a faster car means you need better brakes.

The only stupid question is a question not asked.

A mild boost setup would be the cheapest thing to do. As long as you don't run it over 8psi the internals will hold up pretty fine.
As far as looks, lowering it a bit and some nice rims make it look much better. At least in my opinion.

By the way, welcome to the "power of dreams"
