B series CRX - Axle / Trans question. (detailed)
Hi I need help with my CRX. I've done alot of searching.
I have a B18A1 from a 1992 Integra, with a B16 cable transmission (Ys1) from a 1992-1993 Integra from Japan. That transmission blew, and I now have a Y1 transmission lying there, which is a 1990 to 1991 integra from Japan. I understand I have to change the clutch to 1990-1991. I have an intermediate shaft from an Integra GSR (1996) and an axle to match (1996 integra axle)
Will the Y1 transmission fit a 1990-1993 axle? And will the Y1 transmission fit the 1996 Integra GSR intermediate shaft? That's all I need to know.

All B series transmissions should be splined the same and accept all B series axles and half shafts. If your axles match the half shaft, you will be fine.
Most people use the 90-93 axles and half shaft. Make sure your axles work with the half shaft you have.
If you are just replacing the trans and the set up previously was working just fine, keep the same axles. They will swap right over.

Alright, so the 90-93 axles will work on the 90-91 transmission, now what about the intermediate shaft?
I have doubts the integra GSR intermediate shaft will fit into the 1990-1991 Y1 transmission.... It's a 97 GSR intermediate shaft.

My old setup is 1996 GSR integra intermediate shaft, with a 94+ axle seal and 94+ axle for the driver side, with a 92-93 YS1 transmission, with a 92-93 Axle for the passenger side.
All I want to do is change to the Y1 (90-91) transmission. Do I need to change my intermediate shaft from the GSR to the older one, or no? Few hours away until I take it off and check

If you currently are running a YS1 larger spline tranny, and switching to a Y1 (which is older and not as good btw), you can reuse your existing intermediate shaft and axels. As far as the clutch goes, the smaller mainshaft design found in 90-91 b series tranny's needs a different clutch disk....the pressure plate should be the same and work fine

Thanks Deetz, I'm getting the trans for 240 dollars, I can't say no. I got a free clutch for the year 1990-1991 B series, so all in all 240 dollars for the trans swap.....
answered my question, thank you.
