Default relpacing axels on 2000 civic si

I need to replace one off my axles on my 2000 civic si, do you guys think it's a good idea to do both at the same time. I have 130,000 miles on it, and should I do the half shaft also?

Is the half shaft seized or squeaking? if not leave it along!!

On the axles if one is busted, check the boots on the other if they look fine and the axle isn't making noise then is up to you.

In my personal car I change the one is bad not in pairs.

Like what carlos8 said just replace the one that is bad... But most of time once the other one gives up the other one will give up too just do you visual check make sure theres no tear on the boot area and if its still good then leave it

I have had better luck with stock (used) honda axles than aftermarket. If you can find good used ones on ebay, I'd go with those.

And no, you don't need both sides if there's only something wrong with one side.

Its an easy job. Take off tire, 32mm nut, brake line, both upper and lower ball joints, tie rod end, wallah! well taking it off of the halfshaft sucks lol. Its amazing though how great it feels since I replace mine like every damn year.

Just replace the side that needs a replacement. If its the passenger side I would suggest replacing the axle seals while you have it out, thats if you haven't done it at all.

Thanks for the info, it's my driver side that was bad but ill inspect the other one and just replace what's needed. Is getting one from auto zone cool, I think there about 60 bucks? Half shaft seems fine just wanted to make sure I didn't need to replace everything if I didn't half to.

Half shaft should be fine, its the cv axles that takes the beating.

I just bought one today and it is $67 with out the core so if yo want you can take out your old axle before buying it so you get $10 off so instead of paying 67 then youll just pay 57$$$... Or you can buy it replaced then turn in the old one they will still give you that $10 once you turn in the used one... Good luck!
