hi am a new owner for a 2001 honda civic ex and i recently tried to change my brake pads because the were worn out and the bottom bolt to remove the caliper was stuck and i tried to force the new brake pads in and it work but then it was too tight and when am on the road the rotor would heat up high so i took of the front brake pad and put the old one back on.. so the front is a used brake pad and the back is a brand new one... will this mess up my brake or is their a way i can loosen the bolt so i could put the other new pad on? its just for the front drivers side tire, the passenger side had no problems.. please help.. asap....

 

take the caliper off and grease up your glide pins. Sounds like your pins are seized and the caliper isn't moving as it is supposed to. You may need to take a wrench and hold the pin in place while turning the bolt.

Once the caliper is off and cleaned, push your brake piston in with a c-clamp and your new pads should fit fine.

 

Replace the caliper bracket, as the pins do not function. I suppose if you want to put labor in to it, you could grind the rust off. Not worth in in my professional opinion.
