I have bought a F2 600 and it has a really bad leaking petcock. The bike starts fine but after i take it down the street and back maybe a quarter mile it starts to die and will only stay running badly with the choke on. Will replacing the petcock solve my issue..Thanks

Sounds like a carburetor issue, they need a good cleaning.

 

Would i take it all apart or spray it down with cleaner. I hear seafoam works well..

 

yeah, an non "I" is a carb.

it's possible that disassembling the petcock will solve the problem, but truthfully I would like to see you remove the entire tank and drain it. then work on not only the petcock, but ALL LINES leading from the fuel storage area. in that way you will be sure no lines are plugged.

take special attention to the breather line, because if that is clogged the fuel WILL NOT flow in a gravity feed fashion because the tank will create a vacuum and not allow the liquid to flow.

it should be a little hole in the lip area of your tank... use pressurized air to ensure it is open and pour some fuel down it to ensure it is unplugged.

 

So i pulled the petcock from the tank and the filter was stuck into the tank. Took some pulling with needle nose but it came out and it had rips all over the filter and there was what looked like debris of rust. I drained all the fuel into a can and saw quite a few pieces of(chunks and debris floating around. Could have been a piece that got through into the carb. I also pulled the air filter off and inspected for any loos hoses or cracked ones and looked into the carb and it looks nice and new just like the guy i bought it from said. I sprayed some carb cleaner into it as well as spayed some into the fuel line while starting it to clean it up some. Tomorrow i put the new pet **** and filter on and cross my fingers it will run after it warms up.I also found a set of used but good ignition coils on ebay on auction for 10 bucks. I figured what the heck couldnt hurt.
The 2 tubes or line coming out from the back of the tank which i assume are the breather lines ( i blew into them and air made its way through..
I think that there are supposed to be 2 lines not connecting from the back of the tank near the seat!! Neither one was connected or looked like it could by anything near by..

 

If you have flakes in your tank... you have issues. That ta k needs to be pulled and treated anx resealed otherwise it is just going to happen again.

More than likely, your CV carbs have torn or extremely worn diaphragms.
