I have a 2008 CRV and the brake lights do not work but the middle light does when the brakes are pressed. Is it the bulbs if so why would both be out the fuse is good as the horn works. It has been only to the dealer so what could it be. I am going to replace the bulbs but seems odd that both would go at the same time. If it was the switch then the middle light shouldn't work correct?

I'm not sure about the new gens but for my 2001, my brake lights are dual filament bulbs. It is possible that it had a single filament bulb in there the entire time. Which explains why it only lights up and not brighten. Make sure the bulb is the correct one in there.

 

I have made this mistake myself and even bought a whole new harness thinking that was bad when in fact.... it was me buying a single filament bulb. live and learn.
