Default 2001 Prelude Automatic Transmission Question

Hey Guys,
I just picked up a 2001 prelude auto with 145k few weeks ago.automatic transmission flares up going from 1st to 2nd gear, shifts fine in all other gears. I changed a few solenoids and a fluid exchange and while it helped the problem is still there. I found a good deal on a used transmission from one of the local jdm importers but they have a f20b and h23a transmissions, which one should I go with? Will they bolt right up?

If im not mistaken the F-series and H-series are compatible either way,you get longer gears in the F and shorter gears in the H. I'd just stay H IMO. As for the old trans, its probably the synchros thats going bad, the auto transmissions on preludes were an epic fail.

I dont know about auto transmissions, but any 5spd H or F trans should mat to any H/F block. I dont see why it would be a big difference either way.

Are you doing a 5spd swap? If so get the F20B trans. It is a T2T4 Helical LSD tranmission, basically the same gearing as a 5th gen but lsd and not the shitty viscous kind like the M2B4. The other is that H23a a M2S4?

No, I'm not doing a 5 speed swap. Car is 100% stock and is in mint condition aside from transmission issue. What really blows is I went to honda website to plug in my vin for any recalls and this was one of the models with extended 100k warranty and it's marked as "not repaired" meaning the previous owner never took it in, probably wouldn't be an issue if he did. One of the importers told me that the trans HAS to come off another 97-01 lude with the same trip tonic transmission otherwise it won't work. Can someone shine some light on this?
