screw heads broken off on the tps ...
the wiring in my car is falling apart, i fear it was damaged by a flood at sometime before i owned it. so slowly ive been replacing the wiring and sensors.
i have had an idle problem almost a year now, and one of the last things for me to replace is the tps. got a new one as it wasnt that expensive. i look and there's two screws that hold it on. the heads from these screws on mine, are gone. broken off. wtf.
my first instinct was to just break the plastic around them, then try vice grips to remove the screw, hoping to save the treads inside for the new screws that came with the new tps. i have court in 15 hours, so I didn't do that. lol
suggestions?

I think honda used snap off head screws so it would be tamper resistant. Anyways slot a groove on the top using a hacksaw blade then use a flat head screwdriver to remove them. After putting on the new tps make sure to use a multimeter to get it properly set.
every suggestion involves removing the entire air intake. that reall sucks. i guess i could remove the hood instead but ive gone down that road before....
the apartment complex i live in is in a nice part of town and its a breach of lease to do something as simple as change a head lamp...
I got a lot of dirty looks today
something else i noticed while at the junkyard today... why in the **** on the eg855 is the electrial wires to the front end passenger side of the car inside the fender as opposed to inside the engine bay like on the driver side. i cut a lot of wiring out of an eg865 today that was not done this way. maybe the previous owner of my car did some stupid **** i dont know.

If the wiring was in the fender, and not in the engine bay, then yes, the previous owner tried to do a wire tuck.

yeah there are some subtle differences between the eg855 and eg865 , like the rear window garnish on the front doors. they're not the same. im sure most of the important stuff is as was the wiring, map sensor and water outlet i got today
The search did provide some interesting information of torque to yield for Head Gaskets and such so not all was a loss.
They're VERY rare, and why Honda decided to use something similar for the TPS is completely and totally beyond comprehension.

Yes. This is the name for them. But NotARacist was on the right path also.
They're bolts with heads that are designed to snap (shear) off at a certain torque value. Honda zaps them down till the head breaks off...which makes the fastener tamper resistant.
You can cut a slot into them and turn them with a flat head screw driver. Remove the 4 bolts (OOMGSOOMANYBOLTZZZZ) holding on the throttle body. Then it will be easy to cut the slots and remove the TPS.
It's recommended that you get a new TB gasket...but you can reuse yours if you don't tear it. You will also need to set the TPS WOT and closed throttle values.
