Failure code 1 and 9? Where to buy oxygen sensor?
Hi guys
This is my first post, be gentle!
I have a 1991 CRX 1.6 16v (non-VTi/VTEC). I got a check engine warning and judging by search results on this forum + reading the failure codes I get no. 1 (oxygen sensor) and no. 9 (cylinder position sensor) codes.
1)
I'm assuming I will solve no. 1 code by replacing the oxygen sensor. Where is it located on the CRX and where do I buy a new OEM? Someone told me an universal part wouldn't do!
2)
Could you please tell me about the no. 9? That's the one that scares me. Is it expensive to fix? What will the fix involve? I will give the car to a shop for fixing it, but I need a ballpark figure if that's possible. If too expensive, maybe I'll sell the car as is...
3)
Recommend an online shop that will sell me a CV joint for my car. The left side, "outer" CV joint is bad (it makes a "tack tack tack" noise when I turn left).
Thank you!!

It seems my engine is named D16A6, and the OE oxygen sensor part I need is Oxygen Sensor Denso 234-1009
Correct?

You can buy a sensor at any auto parts store. Autozone will lend [with a deposit] the removal tool.
You can buy a rebuilt CV shaft at any auto parts store. But you will need a 1/2" impact driver and I forget, either a 32mm or 35mm socket to remove retaining nut.

Code 9 is cyp sensor failure, i think it detects when the cylinderis at top dead center, usually caused by a faulty wire or the problem lies within the distributor( thats where the cyp is). If available, try using a different distributor, most likely itll solve problem
Code 9- reset ecu, if 9 goes away, temp problem, check connection at dist. and rond connector on right shock tower.
Disconnect 8P connector on dist. measure resist. between bottom two wires. Should be 350-550 ohm. If not, dist is bad. IF yes, check continuity to body separately bottom left and right. If continuity, dist is bad.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.
I was sure #9 meant much worse news! I'll show this thread to my mechanic and see how he solves it
