So I bought a 1992 EG Hatch from a friend a while ago, and he was told by the previous owner that the car had the front and rear brakes swapped off of a 1999 Civic Si. The brakes started making some noise a few days ago, so I ordered a new set of EBC rotors and pads for a 1999 Si. Today, I tried installing them, only to find the caliper housing for the brake pads is too small for a brake pad for a 1999 Civic Si.

Is there any way to figure out what brakes are on the car? I assumed they were the brakes that both me and the previous owner were told, as I tried mounting a 13" wheel onto the car for a winter setup, only for a 13" wheel (factory EG size) to not clear the caliper. The notches on the end of the brake pad are approximately 1/4" too long.

 

Maybe you got 92-95 EX brakes? I understand they are larger than the 92-93 DX/CX/SI brakes. That's assuming they are not ABS brakes, if they are then they could be 94-95 SI brakes instead of post 95?

 

If the brake rotors you bought for a replacement are the same size as before, and they measure 10.3", I'm going to guess you do have Si/GSR/EX brakes.

It's possible they sent the wrong pads. Try cross referencing the part number on your pad box with the ones on the MANUFACTURER'S website for a 99 Si.
