Default dw-1 vs z-1

I have a 2011 civic that according to the O.M recommends the dw-1 a/t fluid. Can anyone give me info on the difference between the dw-1 and z-1 or the benefits of one over the other. This is my third Honda car and first a/t Honda.Kinda wish I had picked the '11 civic 5sp but what the hell.Tranny seems to shift positive but smooth and down shift like a 5sp.(Almost like going through the gears). Also, does anyone know when to change the fluid?O.M only tells how to check and add. Thanks

DW-1 is compatible with the old formulation Z-1, which was phased out. Recommendations vary according to vehicle use from 30K to 15K for the 3 quart change. I change it out every 10K, as there are over 10 quarts in the transmission, so 3 qt. is only a partial change anyway. I figure transmission fluid is cheaper than mechanical repair, so why skrimp on the cost of 3 qts? It is easy for the DIY type - just drain and replace. Use 90471-PX4-000 crush washer for the transmission drain bolt.
